MCIC, as an initiator of the preparation and the adoption of the Law for Civic Associations and Foundations, held several workshops throughout Macedonia for discussing the questions regarding its implementation.
Awards for Civil Society and Democracy and Sustainable Development
Support to positive examples
In 2001, the MCIC established two awards - the Award for Civil Society and Democracy and the Award for Sustainable Development "Gert Jan Van Appeldoorn". These awards were supported by the fund that the MCIC created after they had received a contribution for the development of the democracy and the civil society in 1998 - an award presented by the USA and the European Union.

In 1993, in the middle of the war that tore apart the ex-SFRY, the World Council of Churches, with its ecumenical presence, was making efforts to reduce the consequences of the fratricidal war in that region. In the system of leading WCC agencies, Macedonia was under the authority of the Dutch Inter-church Aid, whose attention was to establish a long-term presence in our country in order to help the people in need.
First magazine for civil society in Macedonia
Civic World
The publication of the "Civic World" - the first magazine dedicated to the civil society in Macedonia started in the beginning of 2001. Since then, the magazine has been available in printed form in Macedonian and in electronic form in Macedonian and in English. The magazine publishes information about the civic associations' activities in our country and abroad and other information of interest to the civic sector. It is distributed for free on several addresses: to the civic associations, faculties, members of the parliament, the local governments, political parties, state institutions and the business sector.
