Awards for Civil Society and Democracy and Sustainable Development
Support to positive examples
In 2001, the MCIC established two awards - the Award for Civil Society and Democracy and the Award for Sustainable Development "Gert Jan Van Appeldoorn". These awards were supported by the fund that the MCIC created after they had received a contribution for the development of the democracy and the civil society in 1998 - an award presented by the USA and the European Union.
The winner of the first Award for Civil Society and Democracy for a long-term contribution was the First Children Embassy "Medjashi". The Award for Sustainable Development "Gert Jan van Appeldoorn" was given to Mrs. Kristina Dickinson, for the achievements in the previous year and Dr. Josif Tanevski, for long-term achievements.
The awards at the reception that took place in the MCIC offices, which was attended by a number of journalists and guests, were presented by Dr. Mirko Spirovski, chairman at the MCIC.
