EA Flora, Kriva Palanka, Macedonia

Environmental-educational camp

In the period between 31 August and 4 September, the Ecological Association "Flora" from Kriva Palanka organized an environmental-educational camp. The camp was located at the monastery complex Joakim Osogovaski and participants were high school and university students from all over the country.

The activities were educational and working. The educational part covered several subjects such as: "The monastery through the centuries", "Work and importance of civic organizations"; "Communication skills"; Preparing and conducting projects" and "The location and the biodiversity of Osogovo Mountains".

The working day was characterized by practical activities, such as removing the litter from the monastery complex and its surrounding, the surrounding picnic places and reconstruction of the ruined monastery inventory (benches, tables, bins, etc)

As the EA Flora youth representatives said, the reason for organizing the camp is the growing number of tourists who come to visit the monastery and leave much waste behind.

EA Flora youth will continue their activities for cleaning the monastery surrounding area, including activists from Skopje, Kumanovo, Probistip, as well as members of other civic organizations from Kriva Palanka.
