The Month of the Open Society

 
This year the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia (FOSIM) is celebrating 15 years of its establishment and operation. FOSIM will celebrate its anniversary in a working atmosphere i.e. by organizing a variety of events throughout November, 2007 - The Month of the Open Society.

At the Multimedia Center Mala Stanica from November 6th to November 12th, the exhibition Revealed Testimonies - Soldiers’ Letters from the Great War 1914-1918 will take place. On November 7th, the book Bubble of American Supremacy by George Soros will be promoted at the Skopje Fair (12 o’clock). The next day, on November 8th, at the Holiday Inn Hotel, at 13 o’clock, the debate on the books After the War was Over by Mark Mazower and The Children of the Bird Goddess by Kita Sapurma and Pandora Petrovska under the name The Other Face of the History will be held. On Friday, November 9th, at the Children’s Theater Center, under the title The Young People and the Open Society several events will take place such as exhibition of youth actions, debate on the youth activism, promotion of the Directory of Macedonian citizens who have studied abroad, and in the end a round table on the subject Brain Drain. On November 13th, at the Children’s Theater Center, the campaign Under the Same Sun will be promoted and the following day at the Faculty of Philosophy and Faculty of Philology promotion of the edition of 4 chrestomathies will be held under the name Theories of Otherness.

On November 15th, at the Multimedia Center Mala Stanica the photo exhibition Life – All Inclusive by Damir Fabijanik, a Croatian photographer, will be opened. On November 17th, at the Skopje Fair (11o’clock) the results of the survey How Inclusive is the Macedonian Society will be presented. The report on the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information will be presented on November 26th, at 12 o’clockat the Holiday Inn Hotel. The FOSIM Month of the Open Society will end on November 29th with the conference Inclusive E-Government at the Holiday Inn Hotel.
