Joint action on 8 March

“From the woman’s point of view”

At the beginning of February 2007, at the multimedia centre “Mala Stanica’ in Skopje, the performing arts centre “MULTIMEDIA” implemented the project called “From the woman’s point of view”, which is in fact international cooperation between 30 male and 8 female artists from Europe and the Balkans, whose idea is to promote gender equality and to address social issues by using the art as a tool for social changes. The subject of women and labor, the pressure of the constant changes on global level (the globalization) and the regional changes (the long-lasting and exhausting tradition) regarding the quality of women’s life, was in the focus of the meeting in Skopje. The implementing meeting is considered to be the first step towards establishing the joint activities on 8 March and designing actions to confront the usual “kitsch – celebrations” that have marked this day so far, as well as the artificial emancipation and freedom it promotes” – say the organizers of this project.
