What are GMO?

The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning has been implementing the Project for developing national frameworks on bio-security in the Republic of Macedonia to the great pleasure of the civil society organizations working in the field of environment and ecology. The project is supported by UNE – The United Nations Environment Programme and GEF  - Global Environmental Fund.

It is directed mainly towards the genetically modified organisms (GMO) as one of the biggest threats of the biological security in the world today. The implementation of the campaign called “What are GMO?” has already been initiated, that is, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning has printed promotional fliers that were distributed to the daily newspapers to inform the public about the genetically modified organisms.
