South East European Heritage Network

The heritage as an expression of individuality and diversity

A new network called South East European Heritage Network started operating in the region of South East Europe. The Network was established by twenty associations active in this area. The Network members are: The Mjaft! Movement and the Albanian National Foundation from Albania; the Mosaic Foundation and the organization “Kupreska Visoravan” from Bosnia and Herzegovina; ES MA Ndtyshe from Kosovo; the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia and the Macedonian Research Association from Macedonia; Expedition- the Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development and Notar – the Centre for Protection and Presentation of the Documentary Heritage from Kotor, Montenegro; the Association for Protecting the Cultural Heritage ARCH – LUK and the Civil Society Association Suburbium from Serbia; and the foundation Cultural Heritage without Borders from Sweden.

These associations have decided to work in partnership in order to promote the ideas and the values they share. The Network members understand the cultural heritage as an expression of their personal identity and the identity of their communities. For them, the heritage is also an expression of diversities and a source for the sustainable development of the region. The cultural heritage is a source for building the social capital and cohesion of the communities and a space for expressing the good will and the cooperation between the people. The Network members will dedicate all the various resources, knowledge and expertise in protecting the unique treasury of the multicultural heritage, which the region gives away to the humankind.
