Training course for basic computer work in CRZ “DROM” 4 computers received through “e-Macedonia”
In order to improve the conditions for development of information technology education within Roma children in bad socio-economic condition through their integration in the modern flows of information technology, the Roma Community Center DROM from Kumanovo from the beginning of February until 10th July this year, helped by the Foundation “e-Macedonia” of Macedonian Telecommunications, is realizing the project “Information – Public knowledge”. In the open office for information technology education there are 4 new computers and the projected training courses for basic computer education are realized, aimed at 110 Roma children, out of who 27 with informal education, 65 are regular pupils in the local primary schools and 18 youngsters are also attending the training course, volunteers in this civil society organization.
The training courses are held twice a week by an expert associate and it affects the increase of capacity of knowledge within Roma children in the field of information technology, as a necessity in the regular syllabus in their schools. The knowledge from searching information on the internet helps them increase the opportunities for getting information they do not have any access to.
After the project ends, the received equipment will stay in CRZ DROM, where they hope that the trained young people will transfer their knowledge and exchanged information and experiences to their peers and will motivate them to visit the open office for information technology and will exchange information using the internet services.
With support from the Foundation of International Association of the “Lions” clubs from Chicago Two Braille printers have been donated
The Bureau for rehabilitation of children and young people with impaired vision “Dimitar Vlahov” – Skopje has been given two Braille printers, a donation by the Lions Club. These modern machines cost 6 thousand euros and have been provided by the mutual project of Lions from Macedonia and Omnia from Ljubljana.
The idea to donate to the Bureau results from the wish to ease the everyday life of young people and the donation is a result of the Macedonian-Slovenian cooperation between the clubs.
The project is financially supported by the Foundation of International Association of the Lions clubs from Chicago, USA. Andrej Brumat from the Omnia Club and Vaska Leontic, president of the club Macedonia were present at the opening lecture, along with members from the clubs from Macedonia and Slovenia, as well as the top management of Lions – Macedonia, represented by Nebojsa Davidovski.
First Children’s Embassy in the World – Medjasi invites to Call
to civil society organizations for reporting positive examples from their practice that will serve for preparation of the publication “Promotion of positive examples”.
The publication’s aim is to increase visibility of the results from the work of the civil society organizations by publishing their most successful activities. All civil society organizations in the Republic of Macedonia which have carried out activities achieving significant results in certain filed (in the past 15 years), can take part in the call.
The activity of promotion of positive examples is part of the program of Macedonian Civic Platform (GPM), financially supported by the European Agency for Reconstruction. On the basis of this call and your participation, the working group of the Macedonian Civic Platform will make a selection of positive examples that shall further be arranged and published.
The interested ones shall send an application form, one page maximum, briefly describing the activity/activities.
