The Foundation “Professor Stamboliev” awarded three students this year
Kristina Jakimovska from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aleksandra Lazarova are the two students who received the awards for best students from the “Professor Stamboliev” Foundation. The awards were presented at the ceremony which took place on 24 May, the patronal holiday of the University of St. Kiril and Metodij. This year, the foundation awarded one more student from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Kristina Jakimovska’s brother, Kristijan for the results he achieved in his university studies. He, as well as the other two students, received 20,000, that is 18 000 denars each. The awards are presented for the second time and they go to the hands of those students who show excellent results in their studies at their faculties, respectively. The awarded students are from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and this year for the first time from the faculty of Medicine. The foundation was established seven years ago by the Professor Dimitar Stamboliev from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, who is retired at the moment. This year, it started operating as a legal entity with its steering and supervising committee whose members are university professors.
“I dedicate the foundation to my 31 year-old son, Kosta, who died four months ago and was a graduated mechanical engineer. I have decided to invest the money from my work, published in the last 30 years, into students and award them for their efforts at the university. However, the award is not given to the successful students only, but also to those who will graduate in time with relatively good marks”, explains Professor Stamboliev. He says that every year the foundation awards one to two students.
