EKOMISIJA calls for the Anti-smoking Law

The environmental association EKOMISIJA sent a letter of protest to the speaker of the Parliament, Ljupco Jordanovski. The occasion for sending the protest letter was 31 May – the world non-smoking day and the postponing of putting into force the law against smoking. The letter calls for urgent putting into force the above-mentioned law, which, even though was passed ten years ago, it has not been obeyed so far. In the EKOMISIJA they emphasize that they will send their letter of protest to all relevant institutions, and at same time they call all civil society organizations to sent letters with similar contents to the Macedonian Parliament. The action against smoking will continue with the revision of the Law, which, according to the organization has many flaws, which will only make its application harder. They announce that for all legal discords they are going to lobby at the authorities in charge to pass amendments for complete protection of the environment and the rights of the non-smokers.
