15 September: First Aid Day

 
The First Aid Day is an occasion to pay tribute to everybody who does volunteer work to help those in need. The volunteers and the activists are an anonymous, yet numerous army, without whom many lives would be lost. 

 

16 September: Protection of the ozone layer
 

The degrading ultraviolet radiation is a consequence of the holes in the ozone layer that protects our planet. The ozone holes are created by the Freon in our refrigerators, the deodorants and sprays. Buying freonless products is a result of the highly developed awareness regarding this environmental problem. 

 

18 September: Geologists’ Day

All geologists celebrate this day. Everywhere in the world, the geology as a science is considered main economic and strategic resource. Unfortunately, in our country, it is completely neglected. The geological researches and the development of this science should represent one of the axes of development, especially in a country as rich in ore as Macedonia.

 

20 September: Peace Day
 

20 September is a day dedicated to the peace. Reminding people of the peace is even more necessary in the peaceful countries, especially in those countries from which soldiers are sent to fight where peace has long been forgotten. 

 
26 September: European Day of Languages 

UNESCO declared 26 September a European Day dedicated to the languages. The diversity of languages in Europe is its treasure, and learning foreign languages is one of the top priorities of the European governments. 

 

25-28 October: Workshop for journalists

 

A workshops for the journalists from Central and Eastern Europe interested to spread their knowledge in the filed of energetics and energetic efficiency is to take place in Riga, Lithuania from 25 to 28 October 2006. The application deadline is 8 September. For more information visit www.eko.net.mk.
