Donations help the children without parents later in their individual life
The association of children without parents from the orphanages in the Republic of Macedonia “Idnina” from Skopje, in cooperation with “T- Mobile”, organized a humanitarian action for helping the children without parents when they leave the orphanages and start their individual life. Money, clothes and house ware is being collected that will help the mature proteges step into the real life after leaving the collective homes when turning 18. About ten children leave the collective homes a year on average. The humanitarian action organized by “Idnina” and “T-Mobile’ started on 1 June. It will last in the month of July as well. The two mobile phone numbers 070 143-123 and 070 655 489 will be open for donations. Each call on these two numbers is a 100 denars donation. They say at “Idnina” that the bulk of donations they receive are clothes. From Kumanovo and Tetovo they received 24 matresses and from the money they received from lawyers and notaries from Macedonia, they bought five washing machines and five mini-ovens.
“For the young people that leave the centers, we also provided 60 vacuum cleaners, 40 irons, 50 electric kettles. We bought a fridge for the needs of the association. We sent about 150 000 letters throughout Macedonia to companies and enterprises that could be potential donors”, says Ilija Jovanovikj, president of “Idnina”.
Jovanovikj adds that the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski gave 10 thousand Euros, and a second-hand “Renault” van from 1991 for the needs of the association, especially for moving out the children who leave the centre. The actions remains open and they expect at the association to provide beds, more matresses, bed sheets and other necessary things for the house.
Some of the donated objects and money will be given to the young people who are obliged by the law to leave the apartments that the country gave them when they turn 26.

Donation from the Dutch Embassy in the Republic of Macedonia
194 000 Euros for supporting the culture in the municipalities
The Dutch Embassy in the Republic of Macedonia allocated 194 000 Euros to the municipalities of Bitola, Debar, Veles, Kratovo, Mavrovo and Rostuse, which are part of the Embassy’s Culture and Development Programme for 2007-2008.
The money is designed for co-financing their biannual culture programmes in respect to the great importance Holland gives to the decentralization process in Macedonia in a most general sense.
During these two years, starting from some of the goals of the National Cultural Programme of Macedonia (decentralization of the culture, using the culture as a development tool and protection and (re) creation of the cultural heritage), especially considering the principles of local property, co-financing and sustainability, as the Dutch Embassy’s public announcements says, the Embassy decided to direct its support to the five selected municipalities. The municipalities have already identified the culture to be one of their resources, they have a history of implemented projects in the field of culture and they have also prepared two-year plans for further promotion of the culture as their development tool. Each of these five municipalities invests its own assets for implementing these plans.
The Programme is another segment of the Dutch support to the overall decentralization process, together with the support to ZELS (through fraternizing with the organization of the Dutch municipalities VNG) and the decentralization in the field of education.
