Initiatives for sustainable development

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central and South-Eastern Europe (REC) - the Office in Macedonia has been implementing a programme for supporting initiatives that come from civil society association and refer to the area of sustainable development. The programme covers the region of Western Balkans and it refers to initiatives on national and regional level. It is financed by the European Commission Cooperation Office - "Europe Aid".

At the moment, REC is implementing the second phase of the cycle of grants. In the first cycle, grants have been awarded to the association: "Vila Zora" from Veles, The Civic Ecologic Forum from Skopje, the Civic Committee for Development from Probistip, Musical Youth from Resen, Areal from Struga and ORT from Skopje, totalling 44, 530 Euros.

The goal of this programme is to encourage the sustainable development through the local traditions, to create institutional instruments for sustainable communities and to promote alternative ways of sustainable living.
