“Pralipe” from Kriva Palanka got involved in “The key is in our hands”

The civil society association for Roma prosperity “Pralipe” from Kriva Palanka took an active part in the campaign “The key is in our hands” for inclusion of Roma children in the Macedonian educational system. The campaign is realized in order to encourage first grade pupils and their parents from the Roma community to enroll their children in the first grade, but at the same time to act permanently during the school year to reduce their decrease in the education system.

“Our association ‘Pralipe’ has actively been involved in the campaign “The key is in our hands” throughout the year and in the region of Kriva Palanka we have visited 145 families from the Roma community”, stated for MIA the president of the association, Jasar Selimov. “The activities resulted in 39 first grade pupils from the Roma community in the school year 2007/2008, in comparison to two years ago when only 15 Roma children were enrolled. The number of pupils has not increased due to the birth rate, but thanks to our campaign and the raised awareness of the Roma parents”, pointed out Selimov.
