22 February - World Scout Day

A scout gathering in Valandovo and Skopje

On 22 February this year, the Macedonian Scout Union celebrated the World Scout Day, marked in the honor of the scouts’ movement founder, Lord Robert Baden Powel. A celebration took place in Valandovo on 18 February, organized by the scout union “Mladost” which marked its 10-year jubilee, and on 19 February, exactly at noon, a meeting was organized at the Skopje City Square which gathered all scouts from the city and ten scouts from the scout units in Macedonia. The afternoon was dedicated to activities divided into two parts: for the juniors there was a projection at the Frosina cinema and for the seniors a night climb on the mountain Vodno. A party was also organized for the senior scouts on 22 February in Skopje.

It is estimated that there are about 28 million scouts in 216 countries in the world today and they are all celebrating the World Scout Day. More information on the world scouting and the scout activities can be found on the web-site: www.scout.org
