Do and how the civic organizations prepare to enter the European Union?

This time in our Forum, the representatives of two NGOs, AMPEP - Programme for improving the life in Albania and in Macedonia from Ohrid and the Association for Civic Initiatives Lobing from Resen, present their opinions, suggestions and attitudes on the question: Do and how the civic organizations prepare to enter the European Union?

"First, the civic organizations have to establish an internal regulative for self-financing and self-sustainability, in order to continue functioning within the European Union. Since they have proved their good personal portfolios, they can create a basis for joining the family of European civic organizations. We consider that they should adjust to the new age and the competition in the European family. According to the present condition, in the next 5-10 years, the civic organizations should redirect their work towards the European working standards" - is the attitude of AMPEP - Programme for improving the life in Albania and Macedonia.

 

"The NGO sector in the Republic of Macedonia is still in the phase of maturing. "The period of development and progress is quite long, and the sector will have to make further efforts and invest assets to reach the level of the European organizations and associations. The NGO sector in our country is experimenting with the basic principle of work: unique appearance and joint action in coalitions and unions of non-governmental organizations that will direct themselves towards mutual solution of the problems. This principle has been tried in the case of the NGO Parliament, which can contribute and help to a great extent. However, the NGO sector should first study the principles of work and acting in the EU, so that afterwards, those principles, laws and regulations can be brought closer to the people. When the population becomes familiar with the above mentioned principles, regulations, standards and rules of behaviour, the NGO sector will be able to realize and implement its activities and goals successfully, which, on the other hand, will lead to more rapid development of our country and its admission to the European Union" - said Tanja Kjulunovska from the Association for Civic Initiatives - Lobing.
