Youth organizations and the referendum

The coalition Open Society calls for voting

On 4th November at the Infocentre, a press conference of the “Open Society” – a coalition of youth civil society associations and individuals took place. At the press conference they expressed their support for the then forthcoming referendum which took place later that month, on 7th September. Stevce Decev, a representative from the Children’s Parliament of Macedonia spoke of “Open Society” as a coalition established last year during the NGO Fair in Skopje, on the initiative of three organizations with an open invitation for other members. One hundred and fifteen civil society organizations and individuals have answered the call for supporting the referendum, which among other things stated: “we, the young, strongly believe in the democratic concept of an active citizen. Therefore we shall vote, because every vote is crucial and decisive. The referendum is not aimed against anyone and it is not uni-national.

The coalition called the Macedonian citizens to give their mass contribution to the referendum by going out to vote.
