At the traditional NGO meeting
The project “Living in a multiethnic environment” presented
On 8 February 2007 at the Cultural Centre “Mala Stanica” in Skopje, the traditional annual meeting of the civil society organizations took place. About 50 organizations from Macedonia attended the meeting, which was organized by the Foundation Open Society Macedonia (FOSIM) and the European Commission Delegation.
The FOSIM Civil Society Program-Coordinator, Suncica Kostovska, presented the project “Living in a multiethnic environment”- citizens with equal rights, opportunities and protection”, which is the next 30 months is going to be carried out by FOSIM, the association “Zednicki vrednosti” from Skopje and the 12 NGO support centers (which at the moment are undergoing a re-registration process into individual legal entities). The project is supported by the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), which provide 70% of the assets. The remaining 30% is provided by FOSIM. The project’s goal is to improve the status of the minority groups and to strengthen the capacities for active participation in creating the public policies on local and national level.
