Partnerships and poverty
The latest edition of “Civic Practices”, published by the MCIC is dedicated to the “Partnerships” and the “Poverty”. According to CIVIKUS - The Civil Society Index in Macedonia (2004-2005), the civil society organizations do not engage in activities for reduction of poverty. The publication analyses the theoretical aspects of the poverty, it offers guidelines for its alleviation, and a special emphasis is placed on the civil society role, its possibilities and potentials for reducing it.

Osogovo – resources and development possibilities
The Civil Committee for Development from Probistip has published the brochure “Osogovo – resources and development possibilities”. The goal of this publication is to inform the broader public on the possibilities this region offers. Besides the information on the natural and geographic characteristics of the region and the municipalities that gravitate to the mountains, the brochure offers information on all more important cultural, historic and natural values (monasteries, churches, natural monuments, etc).
The publication is part of the promotional materials package which this organization, together with other organizations and institutions from the region, prepared and are dedicated to the promotion of the overall potentials of Osogovo.

Fund for Better Home
Habitat Macedonia is a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization, dedicated to providing simple, decent and available solutions for homes of those who live in conditions of poverty, regardless of their nationality, sex or religion. Thus, the organization provides abandoning the conditions of poor environment and improving the quality of life.
Through the Fund for Better Home – an innovative programme realized together with “Moznosti” - the first micro-financing institution in Macedonia – the organization pays special attention to the areas outside Skopje, which on the other hand, does not mean that the capital will be left out in the future programmes. Habitat Macedonia announces that in the future, they will make efforts to improve the housing conditions in the whole territory of our country.
The Fund for Better Home Programme is establishing a credit line which offers small loans for reconstruction and renovation of sub-standard homes. The loans are aimed for families with income that can be proved. The applicants have to be employed or run their own business. The families applying for the loans mustn’t have a total monthly income bigger than two average salaries in Macedonia, that is 24 000 denars.
The loans are aimed for families living in sub-standard conditions. Substandard living conditions are considered: houses susceptible to dampness, houses with earth closets, houses with worn out facade, uni stalled water supply or electricity, houses with insufficient living space that need to be upgraded and other substandard conditions that can be assessed through a visit.
Besides the loans from the Fund for Better Home, Habitat Macedonia also provides professional help in the field of civil engineering. For that purpose, a team of professional consultants was established offering its free services to all loan beneficiaries.
