Support for people with intellectual disability

People with intellectual disability have to be provided with good services for care and education, a possibility to earn for living, to have families, to take part in different cultural and recreation activities, as well as rights to equal treatment, with no prejudices, their acceptance within the community without discrimination, was stated at the tribune organized by the Center for Support of People with Intellectual Disability “Poraka” from Kriva Palanka, organized in their town.

The tribune was organized in accordance with the Program for implementation of the campaign “Through diversity to equality in the society”, throughout the country, implemented by the Republic Center for Support of People with Intellectual Disability “Poraka” from Skopje.

Through nine topics, the problems from the local self-government related to decentralization, employment of disabled people, health protection and rehabilitation and pension and social security of people with intellectual disability were addressed. The campaign’s goal is to achieve public awareness through promotion and acceptance of diversity in terms of the needs and potentials of people with intellectual disability, their basic human rights and freedoms and life without discrimination.
