Conference at the SEE University - Tetovo

The Minorities in Democracy

 
On 12 and 13 December at the South Eastern European University in Tetovo, a two-day conference on "Minorities in Democracy" took place. The Conference was organized by the SEE University, the European Centre for Minority Rights and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Participants at the conference will discuss in three working groups on subjects like: the Macedonian and Albanian relations in Macedonia after the Ohrid Agreement; the nature of the community; and migration and the minorities. Three panel-sessions will be held as well on the minorities in the South-Eastern Europe (by transferring the experiences from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo and Serbia and Montenegro; minorities in the post socialism (by transferring the experiences from Estonia/Lithuania, Georgia, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia); and the experiences and positive examples from Western Europe (Belgium, Northern Ireland, Schlezia-Holstein, North Tyrol and Sweden).

Facilitators at the conference will be: Boris Trajkovski, President of the Republic of Macedonia, Alexis Broons (EU), Ginilla Carlson (European Parliament/Swedish Parliament), Max van der Stull and Craig Jennes (OSCE).
