Confluent margins

The individual exhibition of the artist Gorge Jovanovik “Mr. Chank’s Walk” was opened. at the end of February, at the Cultural Center Tocka and at the Youth Cultural Centre in Skopje. This exhibition, as well as several others, is part of the project “Confluent margins” that started in 2003 with financial support from the Swiss Cultural Programme and FIOOM and is realized in different towns throughout the country. The group exhibition of drawings “Crtrez – ‘rtez” (Sk_Mk…new tendencies) of 19 young artists was opened within the project in Fenruary, and it has already hosted in Gevgelija, Negotino and Kavadarci. In February, at the art gallery of the Hotel “Jugo” in Gevgelija another group exhibition was staged by several most characteristic artists of the new Bulgarian conceptual art. So far within the project “confluent margins” exhibitions have been staged in Veles, Bitola, Kavadarci, Negotino, Tetovo, Stip, Prilep and Skopje, the picture book “Nesto drugo” has been promoted and talks, debates, workshops, performances, etc. have been realized as well. We should mention in this occasion the realization of the project “Towns in Macedonia” which is presented to the public through five of the twelve planned publications dedicated to the towns in the country, with the aim of better mutual acquaintance of the weirdly distanced towns (even in a sense of information).

The project “Confluent margins” is aimed to foster the cultural production on local level, the cultural exchange among the towns in Macedonia and cultural cooperation among different institutions, state and non-governmental organizations. Among creative and artistic groups and individuals, and it is specially focused on young, marginalized, creative and innovative artists of different ethnic, cultural and social origin.
