Macedonia marked the World Youth Day for the first time
Be seen, be heard
The world youth day, 12 August was marked for the first time this year in Macedonia under the motto “Be seen, be heard: youth participation in the development”. Thus, the country became part of the traditional global marking of this day dedicated to the young population. Theatre performances took place in front of the City Mall “Biser” in the municipality of Aerodrom. There were also some street animation, creative painting and other entertaining and educational games. The civil society organization placed their informative stalls.
A number of young people who came to mark the world youth day, as well as the passers-by, were given brochures and were consulted on the sexual and reproductive health, they received advice on nutrition and health habits. During the event, the organizers presented video stories made by young people on the topic of HIV/AIDS, a disease that mostly attacks young people.
The event was organized by the UNFPA in Macedonia in cooperation with the S-Peer network Macedonia.
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki – moon sent his message to the young people. It said: “The World Youth Day is an occasion that takes place once a year and a chance to pay credit to 1.2 billion young people throughout the world for their achievements and to promote their participation in all spheres of the social living.
