New regional network Green Action Green Action is a regional network of environmental organizations for promoting the biological and the cultural diversity for sustainable rural development. The idea for networking has came out of the need to coordinate the work of the environmental organizations from Bitola, Prilep, Demir Hisar, Krusevo, Resen, Ohrid and Struga and strengthening the capacity for their action. “Taking into account the region’s specifics (Krusevo, Mariovo, Pelagonija – Prespa, Demir Hisar and Ohrid), the implementation of the sustainable development principles should contribute to improving the populations’ social status through economic benefits”, say the network members, who see the advantages of networking in the possibility to focus on the activities for protecting the biodiversity, the cultural and the historic heritage, the reanimation of the villages and improving the living conditions through the alternative forms of tourism (rural, ecotourism, agrotourism, naturology, cultural, religious tourism, etc.). Green action members are the following: Biosfera – Bitola; “Zetva na znaenje” – Prilep; Academic – Krusevo; EA Pelagonija – Novaci; “Pelikan” – Resen; Parumba MKD – Struga; Youth Action Romas – Bitola; “Sfera” – Demir Hisar. The activities to follow are directed towards linking these regions into one whole and creating opportunities for tourist offers. Green Action first activity was the Summer Eco – Academy that took place in Krusevo between 31 July and 3 August. Its participants demonstrated with personal examples how the citizens should behave in places of historic interest in order to protect the environment. The Eco-Academy was realized in a form of a three-day seminar where a strategy for involving the young people in the sustainable development principles implementation in the Republic of Macedonia. The organizer of the seminar activities was the organization “Academic”, in cooperation with the Mayor of Krusevo. The network announces its registration in September as well as including other members in it. They also announce further activities focused on our country's integration in the EU in the field of environmental promotion and protection. K.B.
