Photo-exhibition on the Safe Schools initiative

Every flash - a story

The project "Safe school in a risky community", implemented by the Centre for Psycho-social Crisis Action and the Bureau for Development of the Education, supported by the Swiss Embassy in the Republic of Macedonia, was presented on 27 January 2004 through the wonderful photos of Ivan Blazev. The photo-exhibition takes place at the City of Skopje Museum and it will stay open until 4 February 2004.

The project is being implemented in several elementary schools in Tetovo. Its goal is to encourage the realization of the basic purpose of these institutions - to be places where all children will grow safely and develop and educate in the right direction. "The teachers and the children in the project are trying to find new, or old, but forgotten was to get together, relate themselves, share things, play, create and learn" - says the CPKA representative, Ana Gjorik, in the brochure that was published in the occasion of Ivan Blazev's exhibition. He himself, having a chance to follow and document the realization of this project says: "Me and the children - participants in the project...They had reasons why they came, they were working hard in overcoming the problems and they wanted to be heard, and I was somehow trying to give them space where their voice and stories could be heard outside the classrooms...Every photograph - a flash, every flash - a story, every story - a step towards light, a step closer to their vision".
