Developing the volunteering at the high schools and universities in Macedonia

The Youth Cultural Centre from Bitola and the Macedonian Ecologists’ Movement have implemented the regional project called “Developing the volunteering at the high schools and universities” supported by the South East European Youth Network. It is implemented in seven countries. Its mission is to provide support to the high schools in the field of volunteer work, development of the high school students’ capacities and establishing cooperation between the SEEYN, the universities and the public institutions in the field of volunteering. The project is also directed towards preparing a functional model for introducing classes on volunteering as part of the credit transfer system at one of the universities in Macedonia and towards educating the public institutions for their opening and working with volunteers. The program in Macedonia covers the high schools “Josip Broz – Tito in Skopje, “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Ohrid, “Taki Daskalo” in Bitola and the University “St Kliment Ohridski” in Bitola.

In March this year, the volunteers from the volunteer clubs organized themselves and realized training courses on volunteer management, project cycle and fundraising. In the future, they are planning to organize volunteer actions on the initiative of the volunteer clubs, as well as organization and realization of a campaign for promoting the volunteer working camps.

The Macedonian Ecologists’ Movement – Youth, offers a post for working in volunteer youth camps in over 30 countries in the world. The working camps are a form of volunteering with organized activities. They organize camps for teenagers aged 14-18, as well as for adults aged 18-30. MEM – Youth, volunteer service publishes all job offers at their web-site, together with their partners. You can get more information at demmladi@dem.org.mk.
