Macedonian Ecologist Movement “Ceples 2007” educational camp   The summer educational camp “Ceples 2007” took place from 13-21 August 2007 in Veles. It was organized by the Macedonian Ecologist’s Movement, the Municipality of Caska and the mountaineering association “Solunska Glava”. Participants at the camp were high school students from different towns in Macedonia, young ecologists, members of local environmental organizations in their towns. There were 20 young participants from Radovis, Makedonski Brod, Veles, Caska, Jabolciste, Bitola, Prilep, Struga and Probustip; the camp had both working and educational component. In the working component, the young ecologists rearranged and cleaned the surrounding of the place they stayed at; they were preparing and writing signposts, benches, etc. In the educational part, the professor Jane Acevski from the Faculty of Forestry introduced the participants with the biological diversity of Jakupica and the endemic species of plants that can be found on the mountain, as well as their importance and protection. The coordinators from MEM – Youth held workshops on camp leadership and found out about the process of their organization and management. They were encouraged to become camp leaders in their environment in the future. Apart from the environmental problems in Macedonia, the participants talked about the global environmental problems, the novelties in the national environmental legislation and the possibilities it offers for the citizens to participate in the decision making processes in the field of environment. The lectures were held by Ruska Miceva, graduated biologist. The financial support for the summer camp was provided by the Peace Corpus in Macedonia.
