Kontrapunkt

The margins have been spreading for 10 years now

The Association Kontrapunkt from Skopje marks the 10th year anniversary from the publication of their magazine "Margin" in a very original way. At the cultural centre "Tocka" (in Ilindenska Street, Skopje) they set an exhibition of all covers of "Margin" so far. On the 30th march, at the same location, a real poetic spectacle took place - a reading contest of slam-poetry, accompanied by original and very creative poetic performances took place for the first time in Macedonia.

The next evening, a tribune on "How to represent the importance of the cultural magazines in the society" was held, and the marking of the jubilee was closed with a number of promotions of a catalogue, CD and literary publications, "Kontrapunkt's web-site (www.kontrapunkt-mk.org) and the project "Blending the margins", special "Margin" editions and a video of the "Skart" band from Belgrade in several towns in Macedonia.

The magazine "Margin" appeared for the first time in march 1994 and it was the first magazine in Macedonia dealing with the contemporary culture and art, that treated the cultural trends and the new media in an unconventional way, that published contemporary cultural theories and translations of the contemporary literature. Its latest issue says that Margin provides space for the young authors, "especially for those have a more unconventional (and subversive towards the anachronous cultural stereotypes) expression". So far, the 50 Margin issues have been published into 35 books. You can read more about Margin at www.templum.com.mk
