Women Organization “Radika”

Against human trafficking in Reka

To raise the level of informing on human trafficking as a form of organized crime in Macedonia, to seek ways for preventive action among the people in the region of Reka, to protect the girls and the children from the macros (procurer) - these are some of the goals that the women organization “Radika” intends to achieve with the implementation of the project “Education for getting to know the human trafficking as a form of organized crime in the region of Reka”. “We want to raise the awareness among the local population”, says Elizabeta Zdravkovska, assistant-coordinator at the organization. “They need to be able to recognize the procurers and take steps against that phenomenon, as well as to report the supposed criminals at the nearest police station, thus helping women and children who are (potential) victims of human trafficking”, added Zdravkovska. According to her, the population is in need of such education. It will be organized by means of tribunes and workshops at which human trafficking will be defined, a distinction will be made between the phenomenon of human trafficking and the term “prostitution”, and methods of protection from human trafficking will be presented. The educational programme of the women organization “Radika” will be focused on young people (women) aged 17 to 28.
