Solving the primary traffic network in Skopje

Within the project for establishing a project office that will enable strengthening the capacity for project preparation, better training of the staff in the City of Skopje, financed by the EU Phare project for development of the local government, the last, fifth in a row public tribune on "Solving the primary traffic network in the centre of Skopje" took place on 8 June at the City of Skopje offices. The already prepared study has opened a public debate on the possible alternatives for improving the quality of the urban city traffic.

The primary goal is protection of the Skopje inhabitants from both, environmental and economic aspect, and, after the preparation of the law on decentralization and territorial organization of the municipalities, it will be possible to approach to the preparation of strategic projects on the traffic in Skopje in an adequate manner.

"We are very pleased, taking into consideration the fact that we have accomplished the tribune's goal - to encourage preparation of drafts on the basis of the study that will include the offered solutions by the traffic experts as well as the citizens comments", pointed out Sonja Joseva, assistant of the Skopje project office coordinator. From the office they appeal for more patience and caution of the citizens involved in the car traffic in the city and the pedestrians, in order not to create tensions and hold-ups on the streets and, what is most important to avoid the accidents.
