ERGOS

I want to work

The name ERGOS comes from the ancient Greek language meaning "I want to work". It is an association that works for promotion of the professional orientation and employment of handicapped people.

The ERGOS mission is an answer to the question that hides between its name: help for enabling and employing not only the handicapped, but also other people in difficult social position: displaced people, ex-prisoners, single mothers, etc.

Within this mission, the association works on the implementation of activities for developing the health and education capabilities of the handicapped children and young people, their professional orientation and job qualification, help in their employment in protective enterprises, through developing their parents or their own business, as well as finding employment with other employers. ERGOS also offers help in finding employment for all those who found themselves in a difficult situation and are unable to provide existence for themselves.

ERGOS has published a Guide for work for parents with disabled children (financed by the MCIC); it has prepared a proposal for establishing a Center for physically handicapped people; it has trained handicapped people to make souvenirs in home conditions (project financed by the European Union and INTER SOS), training the handicapped people to carve (financed by the CRS), promoting the counseling on handicapped people employment (financed by Phare), as well as other projects and activities.

ERGOS cooperates with a number of organizations that work on promoting the handicapped position and rights. The association has its branches in Skopje, Bitola, Prilep, Stip, Tetovo, Ohrid, Resen, Veles ad Strumica. The central board's address in Skopje is "Jani Lukrovski" 14/19, and the phone number is 02/171423.
