Head of the state with a message to the civil sector
NGO should help organizing fair and democratic elections
Macedonia has to have the most democratic and the fairest elections so far, and the civil society organizations can help achieve that, recommended the foreign representatives in our country at the recent meeting organized by the Head of the state, Branko Crvenkovski. Participants at the meeting were representatives from several civil society organizations. They emphasized their problems, calling upon the so-far experience in the election process. The most common remark was that the NGO are to finally isolate themselves from the political parties’ influence. “It is but your responsibility and I believe you will choose the Euro-Atlantic future of the country, since any lack of success will stand on your way to the EU. At this elections, instead of the party interests, one should set up new foundations for the future of the country”, said the foreign representatives at the joint meeting with the NGOs, calling for a mass response at the elections. “We need a transparent election process and legitimate election results not just to integrate sooner into the Euro-Atlantic structures, but for ourselves alone and for building a democratic and prosperous country led by political leaders voted in a regular election process”, said Crvenkovski at the meeting, warning about any irregularities that may occur.
“The elections are a test for the country in general, the political parties, the citizens and the civil society. We have to provide fair election atmosphere. We are with you on your road to a common future”, said the Euro representative, Erwan Fuere. Darko Aleksov from the civil society organization “MOST” said that the key for these elections is that the civil sector remains immune to any political interference.
