The Parliament Days

The Children spoke from the speaker’s platform

Within the manifestation “The Parliament Days”, the Children Parliament of Macedonia (CPM) held its simulation of the parliamentary work at the Macedonian Parliament. About 120 delegates from all branches of CPM in Macedonia took part at the simulation. At the session, the children-delegates emphasized the areas, that according to them, need to be discussed by the adult delegates: sexual abuse of children, children prostitution as well as the pedophilia. The children showed interest about the corruption in the educational system, marking at schools, insufficient communication between the students, the teachers and the parents, violence at schools, high school and university enrollment policy, protection of the minors from the police aggression, the burden of the curriculum, serving alcohol to minors in public places, protection from drugs, etc. After the main topic of the working part had been exhausted- the violation of children rights – at the end of the simulative session they passed a Declaration against children abuse. At the solemn part of the session, certificates with the CPM emblem were awarded to the President Branko Crvenkovski and the President of the Parliament, Ljupco Jordanovski.

After the end of the session, the young “MP’s” held a meeting against the children abuse in front of the Parliament and a defile from the Parliament building to the square “Macedonia”. The defile ended at the Summer Stage in the City Park in Skopje with the eco-parade “The children want to live in a clean environment”.

The Children Parliament has 50 offices all over Macedonia, eight of which are in Skopje. Several clubs of young delegates, diplomats and missioners operate within the offices. For the beginning of July they announced the traditional international camp “Peace and love for children and young people” in Ohrid, and by the end of October, the Balkan Children Congress in Skopje, when the Balkna Children Parliament is to be founded.
