Second Edition of the European Day of the Entrepreneur
The entrepreneur – a leader in the Eurointergration process
On 9 May, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Skopje, the second edition of the European Day of the Entrepreneur took place, as an integral part of marking the European Day. This year, the event took place under the title “The European Day of the Entrepreneur – the entrepreneur, a leader in the EU integration”. The Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, the Mayor of Skopje Trifun Kostovski and the Ambassador Erwan Fuere, a special EU representative and head of the European Commission Delegation, all spoke at the opening of the event.
The plenary session was held under the title “Small and medium size enterprises – general policies, EU integrations, the role of the government and the private sector”. The Macedonian Enterprise Development Foundation – MEDF, in cooperation with the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation – MCIC, organized a panel on “Socially accountable entrepreneurship”, where they also presented the publications “A guide for the civil society organizations – sources of financing from the European Union” and “Successful usage of the IPARD funds”.
Government representatives, international and local experts, entrepreneurs and students discussed the development of the entrepreneurship, the EU integration and the economic perspectives of the country. The other panels were held under the following titles: “Entrepreneurship and tourism”, “A campaign for raising the awareness on entrepreneurship”, “Business “start-up” centers & business incubators – regional review”, “Competitiveness in the ICT and SME”, “IPA Funds – reality and opportunities”, “Alternative sources of financing”, “Creating entrepreneurs”, “Developing the entrepreneurial learning” and “Successful business-stories”.
At the same time, a fair of domestic and foreign organizations supporting the entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurs in the Republic of Macedonia took place.
