Live Heritage Programme

Artisans work with artists

The blacksmiths from Berovo, the weavers from Rusinovo and the potters from Vranestica gave an artistic mark to their works – they related with the artists Slavica Janeslieva and Dijana Tomik – Radeska. With their design, they manufacture items in a traditional artisan style. The connection between the ancient skills and the artistic spirit will give a new dimension of the traditional production in our country and will result in a production of attractive items and souvenirs, witnessing the cultural heritage of our country. The artisans’ products with the artists’ signature will soon be displayed at the ateliers of the both artists, as well as in the shops in Skopje and at other locations. Some of these products have recently been presented at the Live Heritage Fair in Skopje.

The projects in the three above-mentioned communities are part of the Live Heritage Programme, implemented in Macedonia by the Open Society Institute – Macedonia Foundation. A network of 30 about 30 projects has been established within the programme, which have either been implemented already or are currently being implemented in Macedonia.
