The civil sector should promote the spiritual, artistic and culture values more
Professional experience: I am en economist and I’ve been working in the civil sector for 12 years. At the moment, I am working as a coordinator of the expert service of the Union of Blind People in Macedonia and I have been the editor-in-chief of the magazines for the blind people: the Brail magazine “Nas Zbor” and the audio magazine “Panorama”. I am also an editor and presented of the radio pragramme “Panta Rei:” that is broadcasted through the Macedonian Radio – Radio Skopje, every Monday from 2 to 3 p.m.
Engagement in the civil sector: As I previously mentioned, I am actively engaged in the UBPM as a coordinator of the expert service and editor-in-chief of the above mentioned magazines. In our focus of interest are the general human and the compensation rights of the people with impaired sight, as well as the fight against their marginalizing in the Macedonian society, and also promotion of the legal regulations for their protection and informing, a wide range of projects and activities for overcoming the prejudices and strengthening the citizens’ awareness. I have also initiated and coordinated several civil society organizations, a was the head of the publishing and informative center “PHARE – Brail, and I have been cooperating with the magazine for the people with special gifts “VULKAN”.
Hobbies and interests: Swimming, working on a computer. I collect vinyl records and compact discs, listen to music, etc.
Toughest decision: The answer to this question depends on my ability to risk with a previously measured chance of failure, as much as it does on the very toughness of the decision you are making. Anyway, one should overcome the fear.
Ambitions: There is no such thing that I would not want to do. I accept every challenge. It always pays to be who you are. Time can always be on your side if you know how to use it.
In his free time he reads: When I do not have too much work to do, I read Britannica, then some professional literature, economy, and I also enjoy reading novels. From time to time I write poetry, aphorisms, etc.
Where does he go in his free time?
I find time to see a play in the theatre or a film at the cinema with my wife. I also like staying at home sometimes. I love going out and traveling brings me great pleasure.
At weekends: I find time for my friends too. I visit people who want to socialize with me and who socialize in general. That is the road to happiness.
Which national/local problem does he find especially important and why? Every day I am more convinced in the fact that the difference between us and the developed world is becoming clearer. It can be seen in the lack of having same moral values. I do not only mean bad organizing, inefficient managing, lack of knowledge or experience. It is not so simple. When one doesn’t know, they learn and become better in future. It is not about that. I am talking about lack of awareness for living in a community, about lost sympathies or any other positive emotions for the person next to you.
Which global problem does he find especially important and why? Now we have the global economic crisis, the poverty and the pessimism of people which are solved only by those who do not pay attention to the moral and the political understanding of the people struck by the crisis. Therefore, it is most urgent to try to find a political structure that the world needs, to start walking on our road, believing in our hearts that all these efforts for a World of Flowers and without wars will make a wonderful future for our planet. By then, the civil sector should promote the spiritual, artistic and cultural values more. Those are the values that will bring a positive result.
What would he change in Macedonia and the world?
To put it in a few words, creating fair conditions for equal opportunities with systematic solutions, and not ad-hoc measures. Most of all, I mean, passing laws and their consistent application, in accordance with the “UN Standard Rights”, “The Universal Design” and “The UN Convention”, whose putting into force we are expecting. Laws, based not on discrimination, but respecting the human rights.
Advice/message: I do not like giving advice, but from my experience, I think that is most important to judge your own capacities, try to improve and develop them, always relying on yourselves, your knowledge and competence. Nothing is so difficult if we are ready to fight, and there is nothing worse than self-pitying and not having interests.
He could never: Accept the division between those who have certain disability and those who do not. Being disabled carries in it certain limitations, but on the other hand a lot of things depend on ourselves and on how much we invest in ourselves, our education and how responsible we are in life.
