"Drugs, a dangerous challenge in the youth"

On 8 July at Infocentre in Skopje, the Association of Social Workers from Skopje promoted the brochure " Drugs, a dangerous challenge in the youth" by the authors Ivan Tulevski and Slavica Sekutkoska. The brochure is financed by the Agency for Young and Sports. The establishment of the SOS-line for drugs and the publication of this brochure are important activities of the Association of Social Workers, which promotes and has is very significant for the social worker in the process of prevention from drugs. The brochure is aimed for the young people, as well as for their parents in treating the problem of drugs.

"The brochure offers information on the meaning of the three relevant factors which have a great impact on the use of drugs, such as: the environment we live in, the personality and the drugs. The brochure also presents the latest facts on the influence of heroin and cannabis, as well as the new drugs young people are faced with in this century. One can also find information on the transmission of the HIV virus as a result of the drug abuse", informs Slavica Sekutkoska, the project coordinator. The brochure lists the health institution where the drug abusers can ask for help.

"The SOS line for drugs receives three calls every day from people from different towns in the country. The information is only given on the phone. At the moment we are preparing the web-site of the SOS-line for drugs", stated Sekutkoska. In the end, she said that at the moment, the centre employs three experts, social workers and soon the line will be available in Albanian language, too.
