People: Julijana Daskalov
The globalization will destroy the identity
Professional experience: Solid.
Engagement in the civil sector: For nearly 20 years… I started as a scout, which was accidental. However, all the creative things that the scouts offer in their programme attracted me and made me stay in the Council professionally. At that time, I was involved in the Youth Council of Macedonia and continued as a delegate in the European Youth Forum. Since Milieukontakt started its work in Macedonia, they have opened new views of interest in my engagement in the civil sector, which is, of course, protection of the environment.
Hobbies and interests: Feng Shui, or, “the art of living” within the space has been attracting my attention lately. The photography – the digital one.
Toughest decision: Ha-ha-ha…my husband says that my toughest decision is which shirt to wear in the morning and how to combine it with the rest of the clothes!
Ambition: I have a lot, such as preparation of guidebooks for trainers and civil society organizations, which we have been planning for a long time; complete support to the associations that will take part in the campaign for making the forthcoming elections green.
In her free time she reads: Feng Shui literature, materials from the Internet, professional literature, Wilde, Hemmingway, Barico, Andrik, Vapcarov, Andonovski…
Where does she go in her free time: This is a good question…In my free time I want to enjoy myself at home! I want to watch films, go to the cinema (if only Skopje had a decent and rich film agenda). I also like visiting old churches, ruins, being in the nature, riding a bike, etc.
At weekends: I attend training courses, workshops, seminars, travel with my fantastic colleagues from the network of independent consultants KOCKA. When I am not traveling, I like to dedicate the weekends to myself, hang out with friends, my nephew, my parents.
Which national/local problem does she find especially important and why? The insufficient civil activity and self-awareness. I could name tens campaigns and write about hundreds of thousands foreign money invested in that, but the effect, at least for the time being is stuck.
Which global problem does she find especially important and why? The globalization, which I believe, is something that will destroy the identity.
What would she change in Macedonia and the world? Is this a questionnaire or some utopist tractate!?
Advice/message: Everything I would like to say in this occasion can be found in the book “The seasick whale” by Ephraim Kishon.
I could never: Do bungee-jumping.
