“Doverba” activities

Research on human rights violations

After it has successfully organized the panel discussion on the Law on drugs, the civil society association “Doverba” is currently realising the research on the human rights violations in prisons and with the methadone users community in the already established centres in Macedonia.

The results from the research will be announced at the roundtable that is to be held soon and will be translated into English and Albanian and submitted to the institutions in charge.

So far, “Doverba” has been actively involved in the process of making the National Strategy on drugs and at this time of the year, it focuses its activities opening new centres for treatment of drug addicts in Skopje, following the example of the several existing centres in some towns in Macedonia. The interested citizens are free to use the counselling centre at all times as well as its informative line on drug related programmes, HIV prevention, hepatitis C and other sexually and blood transmitted diseases. The line is open every weekday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the counselling centre is open every weekday too between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“We guarantee strict confidentiality. We need no id's just the good will of the person or the family to talk about their problems.” - explained Keti Todorovska.

The civil society association “Doverba” promotes treatment, rehabilitation, resocialisation and prevention for people who use drugs and other psychoactive substances and for their families. In that context “Doverba” activities are focused on improving the treatment, the conditions and returning the normal life to those who use drugs.
