A seminar on composting waste
The civil society organization “Novina” organized a seminar on waste management and practical training for composting waste at “11 October” Primary School in Skopje. The seminar called “Solid Waste Management”, which is part of the campaign with the same name, was facilitated by experts in the field of environment who held lectures on: New trends in the Law for waste management; Solid waste management; Protective measures against the waste; and Composting bio- decomposing waste.
Within the training for composting in composters made by “Novina” members and located in the school yard, the procedure for composting vegetal waste was demonstrated. After the seminar had ended, the composters remained in the school so that in the future, students can compost and produce humus out vegetal waste. The “Novina” members sent a message to all citizens to use the educational material on composting and to initiate such procedures themselves, thus contributing to strengthening the awareness and the environmental education of the population. According to the data that “Novina” possesses, the process of composting waste has already become a common practice in the households in the developed countries.
The project has been realized in cooperation with the British Embassy and the British Ecology Department.
