A jubilee of the WO “Bisera” from Ohrid

A ten-year activism on women issues

The Women Association “Bisera” from Ohrid marked an important jubilee on 26 February this year – its ten-year anniversary. The jubilee was marked by a special assembly that took place at the municipality building in Ohrid and was attended by over 200 guests – representatives in the Macedonian Parliament, members of Ohrid municipal council, civil society organizations from Macedonia and Bulgaria, candidates for Mayors of Ohrid, as well as other citizens.

“The ten-year active and volunteer work of “Bisera” is a jubilee in time of challenges, acceptances and progress. With the jubilee, we are rounding off a successful period of a brave beginning, work, joy and future plans. It is a period of 10 years in which old ideas, understanding and learning were abandoned and replaced with building new paths, creating new levels of awareness. We are proud that we are walking in pace with the changes in the society. As a women civil society organization, we got involved in the process of building and developing the new culture of peace in the third millennium, without prejudices and by breaking the barriers that exist among us and are imposed on us, with new possibilities for change and development of the modern women’s new spirit. Those women can go as far as her possibilities and belief in herself let her”, said Silvia Poposka, WO “Bisera” secretary.

As a civil society organization, WO “Bisera” has been active for ten years in several fields of the social, political, cultural and humanitarian life in Ohrid and wider, they have been promoting the citizens’ interests through volunteer engagements and enthusiasm of the membership.

At the assembly, “Bisera” presented certificates of gratitude and testimonials to organizations and individuals who have helped and supported the association during its ten-year work and its strengthening on local, national and international level.

The Women Association “Bisera” is located at Dimitar Vlahov St. 8 in Ohrid. Its president is Nada Martinoska. Contact telephone: 046 / 264 – 469 or via e-mail at: bisera1@mt.net.mk.
