Award for the best municipality
 

The Macedonian Government and the European Union will be giving an award for the municipalities in Macedonia.

 The goal of this newly-designed award is to emphasize the importance of the decentralization process and to improve the services for the citizens. Three awards in money will be given to the three municipalities which showed best results in the process of improving the local population’s standard of living. Eligible municipalities for this award are all municipalities which implemented successful projects in the course of 2004 and 2005 with a budget not less than 10 thousand euros. The total amount of the award is 500.000 euros (250.000 for the first-prize winner, 150.000 for the second-prize winner and 100 for the third-prize winner). The money will be awarded on 1July 2006.
