European Green Week celebrated
The traditional Green Week was organized in almost whole Europe in the first week of June this year, and the central manifestation took place in Brussels, Belgium. The European Green Week 2003 was dedicated to the conclusions and recommendations from the World Summit on Sustainable Development that took place last summer in Johannesburg, South Africa. The slogan of the European Green Week 2003 was "Let's change our behaviour", which implies to the efforts to act in a concrete way. Actually, the goal is to realize the Johannesburg recommendations, as well as the conclusions, and the signed agreements and declarations from this Summit.
The Green Week covered many meetings on ministerial level, 26 conference sessions, workshops, exhibitions and other events. A great number of civic associations and individuals took part in the activities.
The Conference was opened by Margot Valstrom, European Commissary of Environment, and it was greeted by the Prince Lawrence from Belgium.
