The University of “Ss Kiril and Metodij” got its own medium

The student radio again in Skopje

The Radio-broadcasting Council has issued a licence to the University of “Ss Kiril and Metodij” to broadcast radio programme as a non-profit radio broadcasting institution. This decision practically “reanimates” the student radio that existed in Skopje until several years ago. “This is the first time that the Council issues a permit to a non-profit organization, which means that the third, non-for-profit sector has been finally introduced in the media space in Macedonia”, says the Council’s announcement.

The student radio is to start broadcasting in October. It will exist on non-profit grounds. Its contents will be entertaining, educational and informative. Students who study journalism at the university, as well as students from other profiles and university professors are going to work at the radio. The student radio frequency should cover the region of Skopje. Its studio will be located at the University premises in the building “Unija”, right in front of the student centre “Kuzman Josifovski – Pitu in the centre of Skopje.

About 40 000 students and 2 500 university professors will be updated daily on all events taking place at the University.
