Pages on mutual understanding
“Megjutoa” makes changes in the reader’s perception
At the end of 2004, the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation and the Macedonian Journalists’ Association presented the results of the second research on the visibility and the influence of the page “Megjutoa”. According to them, the page “Megjutoa”, which is published every Thursday on the pages of “Dnevnik”, “Utrinski Vesnik”, “Fakti”, “Vecer” and the weekly magazine Lobby was noted by 40% of the polled, which is 11% more when compared to the first research done six months ago. About 25% of the polled are either regular or occasional readers of the page. 21& of the polled think that it is a great opportunity to be able to read in one place articles on inter-ethnic relations published in different newspapers in different languages, and there is even a small change in the perception of events at about 28% of the readers. Regarding the dynamics of the publishing of this page, 24% said that it should be published once a week; 7% would like it to be published two times a week and 7% said they would like it to be published less then once a week (once in every two weeks).
The page “Megjutoa” presents articles that have already been published in the five above-mentioned newspapers and which treat the inter-ethnic relations in Macedonia. “Megjutoa” is part of the programme called “Pages on Mutual Understanding” which is financially supported by the European Agency for Reconstruction. The goal of the programme is to improve the public informing on the inter-ethnic relations in Macedonia and to influence the media for objective and overall reporting on the subject.
