Roma Priorities in Macedonia 

In the course of December 2003, BGO Info Centre organized two events to celebrate the International Decade of Roma Integration. At the press-conference that took place in this organization's offices, recommendations of the Roma Civic Sector in Macedonia directed towards the Macedonian Government were presented. This document states the priority problems that the Roma people in Macedonia are faced with.

Azbija Memedova from the City of Skopje Roma Centre and Ljatif Demiri from the Roma Cultural and Educational Centre "Darhja" spoke at the press-conference. It is expected the Government will incorporate this recommendations in the future National Strategy for complete integration of the Roma people.

Immediately after the press conference, the results from the research of the Fullbright researcher Mrs. Sajna Plaut: "Informative no-way-out: models of communication between the Roma media and the Roma NGO in the Republic of Macedonia" were presented.
