Implementation Plan for Strengthening World Bank Group Engagement on Governance and Anticorruption
Between November 2006 and January 2007, the World Bank Group conducted a global multi-stakeholder consultation process on its strategy paper, Strengthening World Bank Group Engagement on Governance and Anticorruption (http://www.worldbank.org/html/extdr/comments/governancefeedback/gacpaper-03212007.pdf) (1.5mb pdf). More than 3,200 representatives from governments, civil society, donor agencies, parliaments, and the private sector participated in the consultations, which were held in 37 developing countries, 12 developed countries and 4 global dialogues through face-to-face meetings/workshops, videoconferencing, and electronic feedback via the World Bank's website. Feedback provided during the consultations was reported to the World Bank's Executive Board of Directors and helped to inform the revised strategy paper, which was unanimously endorsed by the Board in March 2007. The GAC strategy is based on seven guiding principles (see box).
