On the occasion of the World Day against Human Trafficking
Civil society organizations have required implementation of international obligations
Within marking 18 October – the World Day against Human Trafficking, the civil society organization Open Gate – La Strada, together with the International Network La Strada, submitted the following statement to the Government of the Republic of Macedonia where it says: “We greet the initiative for the European Day against Human Trafficking and we support the call for action by the European Commission.
It is time for action after the preparation of international agreements and resolutions, organizing conferences and hearings and preparation of action plans. It is time to start with the implementation of measures that will prevent violation of human rights, which is the result and the reason for human trafficking”. According to the civil society international and regional organizations, signatories – Amnesty International, EU office, CCME – Church Commission for Migrants in Europe, ECPAT International, the Global Alliance against Human Trafficking, the International Federation Tere des homes, ISCOS – Cisl, La Strada International, Plan Europe, Save the Children, the European grouping, it is necessary to apply, implement and monitor international obligations.
