China and UNDP
International Centre for Reduction of Poverty
The Republic of China and the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP cooperate for the opening of the International Centre for Reduction of Poverty. This initiative was considered in May this year at the conference for reduction of poverty in Shanghai. An agreement was also signed for practical implementation of the initiative.
China was elected a partner-state of the UNDP because in the past two decades it gave a significant contribution and results in the reduction of poverty, and its experience can be of exceptional value to the world. The Centre will provide transfer of knowledge and practices of China for creation of policies and building strategies for poverty reduction.
