Forum Theater – Theater of the suppressed
On 17 June this year at the Children Theater Center in Skopje, a public performance of the forum-theatre play took place, marking the end of the international training on “Finding practical answers to the cultural and religious discrimination on the Balkan with the help of the forum-theater”. The organizer of the event was the civil society organization Rubikon and participants were young people from the Balkan countries.
In order to inform the citizens better on the occasion, a definition coming from the Declaration of principles for this type of theater was provided by the Organization of the International Theater of the Suppressed – Forum-Theater.
“The Theater of the Suppressed offers everybody esthetic tools for analyzing their own past in the context of their personal present and logical planning of their future, without waiting for it to just happen itself. The Theater of the Suppressed helps the human beings to renew the gap they are already familiar with – we learn how to live by playing theater. We learn how to feel by actually feeling, how to think by thinking, how to act by acting. The Theater of the Suppressed is a rehearsal for the real life, trying out the reality for the reality”.
